Cleveland Botanical Gardens Summer Gallery Opening

Opus 216 will be performing as a strings duo at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens’ summer gallery opening. This “Meet the Artist” event features Brian Asquith, whose watercolor work is featured in the gallery alongside the Birdsong and Planet Joy experiences.

Birdsong – Multiple Artists
Birdsong is a vibrant, community‑driven public art experience that brings creativity into unexpected places. More than 150 hand‑painted bird sculptures, created by local artists, were displayed throughout the trees of downtown Hudson, Ohio, alongside a striking large‑scale bird sculpture composed of ceramic tiles painted by members of the community.

Planet Joy – Multiple Artists
Planet Joy is a collaborative art studio that encourages adults with developmental differences to explore their imagination and creativity through the arts. Our desire is to share the beauty of our individuals with the world through their joyful art.

Planet Joy features art and expression of all kinds: painting, drawing, sewing, silk screening, art installation, etc. With the teachings and direction of other professional artists, Planet Joy artists improve their skills, knowledge and ability to express themselves with various mediums.

Brian Asquith
Brian creates layered watercolor paintings that move beyond traditional transparency to achieve a bold, luminous, almost three‑dimensional presence. Inspired by a childhood fascination with nature—examining insects, stones, and tide pools—the work reflects an early, unfulfilled dream of becoming an entomologist. The paintings are often based on real specimens, with selective use of heightened or imaginative color to intensify visual impact. By preserving fragile subjects in paint, Brian’s work invites reflection on nature’s beauty and humanity’s growing disconnection from it.
